ABOUT AMELIA
Amelia Koren is a dancer, choreographer, and educator whose work explores the intricate nuances of movement through an articulate and expressive body. At UCLA, she studied under renowned pioneers in dance, focusing on somatic and humanized approaches to movement through modern, floor work, and improvisational techniques. Her academic research delved into the psychological and physical connections between Bartenieff Fundamentals, Body-Mind Centering, Ideokinesis, and other movement methodologies. Amelia's philosophy centers on collaboration with the body rather than resistance, fostering a more authentic, grounded, and connected dance experience.
Her professional career spans both commercial and concert dance realms. Amelia has performed as a backup dancer for major artists such as One Republic, Samantha Mumba, and Karan Aujla, with appearances on productions like Chicago Fire and national commercials for brands including Target and Universal Studios. In addition to performing, she teaches regularly at conventions and workshops across Los Angeles, including Mihran K and The Space. She is also a choreographer for nationally ranked dance teams across the midwest, bringing a creative and intentional perspective to each project.
Now stepping into the role of director, Amelia has begun choreographing and directing music videos for emerging artists, combining her deep understanding of movement with a clear creative vision. She is committed to bridging the knowledge gap she observes in younger dancers by sharing insights gained through years of experience. Embracing a lifelong student-teacher cycle, Amelia is passionate about continuing her growth while empowering the next generation of artists through both education and performance.
